MY ROLE AT HERMES
Performer, edu-tainer and teacher of memory techniques and effective learning. As a lecturer, I am involved in the conceiving, design and delivery of strategic learning courses that aim to improve the learners’ memory faculties by transferring useful strategies that are immediately applicable in study, work and day-to-day life. As a performer, I bring to the stage spectacular examples of the viability of the concepts conveyed, adapting the performance to the topics addressed during the training session.
WHAT DRIVES ME
In memory, I found my reason for living, my place in the world. At the age of eighteen, following a serious injury that prevented me from fulfilling my dream of becoming a national judo athlete, I serendipitously discovered the art of memory, a virtue that requires the same discipline as a martial art to be trained. Inspired by the story of Harry Kahne – a mental phenomenon of the 1920s able to write five sentences at the same time on as many chalkboards, while holding chalks with his hands, feet and mouth – and driven by my love for theatre, I decided to devise a unique multitasking number entitled ‘The Multiple Wonders’, where I simultaneously solve a Rubik’s cube, perform complex calculations and recite from memory a passage from the Divine Comedy chosen by the audience.
ABOUT ME
I am a big fan of cross-fertilisation. My life and shows are constantly fuelled by new artistic loves and discoveries, which push me to constantly think outside the box.
AN OBJECT THAT DESCRIBES ME
The Rubik’s cube taught me that even seemingly impossible things, if examined with method and a desire for discovery, can be boiled down to small problems for which there is always a solution.
